Globe LED Inc. – Innovations in LED Lighting Technologies
Thursday, May 21, 2015, 12:00- 2:00 pm
828 Legion Rd, Burlington, ON L7S 1T6

Lighting is one of the primary uses of energy in our buildings, typically constituting up to almost one third consumption, and Ontario’s electricity prices will be rising quickly for the foreseeable future, beginning with the new rates that came into effect on May 1, 2015. This is therefore is the time to explore and implement the rapidly growing selection of energy efficient LED lighting technologies.

Globe LED Inc. – A Canadian LED Lighting Technology Developer

Toronto based Globe LED Inc., designs, develops and sells innovative new LED lighting technologies specifically designed for the Canadian market. Meet Gordon Xiao, the founder of Globe LED Lighting, and the inventor of Globe LED’s unique purpose designed lighting solutions for building parking garages, service areas and corridors.

Globe ProxiLight – The LED Tube Designed for Underground Parking Garages
Globe LED ProxiLight is a completely unique dual mode 4’ LED tube light designed for intermittently occupied building areas including parking garages, stairwells, service corridors and storage areas. ProxiLight tubes are designed and built with either radar motion detection or infrared occupancy sensors mounted on each LED tube. Each ProxiLight can be set by the building manager at one of four standby settings of 0, 3, 6 or 9 watts. When motion is detected, the light tube illumination immediately steps up to 18 watts and stays at that setting until one minute after the area is vacated. ProxiLights typically achieve over 85% reductions in lighting consumption with a one year payback

Globe RetroLight – The LED Corridor Light
Globe RetroLight LED Retrofit Kits are the one system designed to dramatically reduce the energy consumption of round corridor ceiling fixtures. These are also the only lights on the market that use high power magnets as an installation mode. If you or your clients have circular ceiling lights, this is a technology worth checking out.

LED Lighting Technical Update
Gordon Xiao will provide a first-hand update about his visit to the April 2015 Hong Kong International LED Expo – one of the the largest global forums on lighting innovation and share some of what he learned about LED lighting both at the Hong Kong Expo and during his visit to numerous LED manufacturing plants across China’s Guangdong Province, the greatest concentration of LED lighting manufacturers in the world.
Learn about some of the most common manufacturing short cuts that low price LED manufacturers use to reduce costs – and their consequences including reduced lighting, premature failure and fire hazards, including:
• LED Chip Size & Distribution – How oversized chips spaced further apart tend to overheat and fail
• LED Chip Mountings – The negative consequences of mounting LEDs on fiberglass instead of aluminum base
• LED Driver Technologies – The differences between standard and low priced LED drivers and the effect on performance and lifespan

LED Light System Certifications
Learn about the wide variety designation systems for lighting and the implications of their presence or absence:
• CSA and UL-C Certification – The gold standards for product safety
• DLC (Design Lighting Consortium) and Energy Star Rates – The required certification for saveONenergy power utility incentives

Globe CircLight – The LED Corridor Light Retrofit Kit
Globe CircLight LED Retrofit Kits are the one system designed to dramatically reduce the energy consumption of existing round corridor ceiling fixtures, without the need to replace the fixture’s cover lens or base plate – avoiding labour costs and unsightly holes and shadows on ceilings. These are also the only lights on the market that use high power magnets as an installation mode. If you or your clients have circular ceiling lights, this is a technology worth checking out.
